近几年,无论是观摩优秀课堂还是学习前言教学理念,总有那熟悉的一幕回荡在脑海———请同学们对已经完成的学习任务进行自我评价(ABC等第);同学们开始自我评价刚才的朗读情况(一、二、三颗星);请自我评价一下你们的小组活动(成功、失败)等。学生自我评价的形式虽然新颖别致,但简单的星级制或等级类评比真的能准确反馈他们的学习情况吗?小学生能通过自我评价提升认识、进一步改进学习吗?笔者经过反复学习比较,分析出以下几种美丽陷阱,提醒同行们谨慎避之。
一、评价目标一致,却笼而统之
自我评价是指个人自我观察后按照自我确定的行为标准评判自己的行为。在小学英语教学中,学生的自我评价意识只是出于萌芽阶段,无论是学习活动还是学习方法、学习策略,基本都是在教师的指引下一步步开展的。因而教师虽然有意识地在理念和形式上强调学生的自我评价,其实根本上还是笼而统之的限定性评价。例如,在学习fruit这一话题时,学生的第一关自评是能否认读水果单词;第二关自评是能否正确拼写水果单词的单复数;第三关自评是能否用所学词汇进行熟练对话。在限定的评价中,学生自然只能选择某一项评价。因此,班中的优等生通过评价认为自己已经完成了学习任务,不再有新的目标和要求,更不知学习方法或学习策略还有不足之处。相反,班中的学困生永远只能作最低的自我评价,这种限定的评价并没有给予学生鼓励和信心,反而早早地让学生有了学生群体分层、分类的概念。
学生之间的差异更加明显,甚而导致英语学习上的两极分化日趋严重。因而,有时评价目标的一致必定也代表了它自身的限制性,教师的引导性评价要更慎重。
二、评价方式多样,却流于形式
自我评价不仅是对学习结果的检测,其本身也是一种重要的学习手段。然而,小学生的自我评价水平有限,必须依靠教师的正确指导才能明确为什么要进行自我评价,评价目标是什么,评价方式是什么。一般来说,评价的方式主要有量化表,写学习日记(反思),建立学习档案,作业展示等。但在小学阶段,在老师的指导下,形式主要体现为量化表。比如星级制(一颗星至五颗星),等级制(ABC等第),是非制(是或者否)等。在低年级教学中,学生对星级制的评价还是比较感兴趣的,因为低年级学生爱表扬,喜比较,能得到多少不一的小红星,学习成功感很容易获得。但是,对于中高年级的学生而言,小红星的吸引力就不大了,他们有自我保护意识,也有学习上的焦虑,更有辨别学习简易的能力。这些自评方式既没有发展学生的认知、提高学生学习的兴趣,帮助学生分析问题,更没有培养学生的思维方法,提高学生的综合素质。学生们只是在回答老师换种形式的问题而已,何来的评价后发展。
三、评价内容丰富,却缺乏反馈
随着课程改革的不断深入,教育评价改革也提出了“多元化评价”的理念。评价内容不仅包括学习任务的达成度,还应包括:学习动机、学习态度、学习策略和学习效果的自我认定。然而在实际教学中,在教学测试的指挥棒影响下,教师往往只关注学习任务方面学生的自我评价,对学习动机、策略等方面的评价指导较少,反馈更少,因而教师对学生的自我评价指导有时只是流于形式和表面化,导致评价结果比较片面和模糊,令学生产生心理压力。就如小学高年级letter话题学习中,学生可以对自己的学习进行自我评价:
能看懂笔友的英文书信;能辨别中西书信格式的不同;能把自己的学习或生活情况用英文回复给笔友等。但在评价过后,很多教师并不能根据学生的个性差异进行针对性的反馈与指导。学生的学习态度、学习动机也基本没有什么变化。因而,无论是教师评价还是学生自我评价,评价后的反思与改进才是最重要的。
四、评价主体明确,却因人而异
教学需要评价,尤其需要教者与学者的自我评价。没有评价的教是盲目的教,不重视自我评价的学,则是被动地学。在实际教学中,虽然大家已经有了生本的概念,但实际操作起来,却因人而异。由于小学生的年龄和心理特点,判断事物的辨析力和自我评价的能力都比较薄弱,因而我们所期待的评价过程、评价结果、评价反馈与发展都并不理想。例如,在自我评价环节,有的.高年级学生是“报喜不报忧”,对自己的评定等级总是A等;有的同学长期受自卑心理影响,以及对英语学习兴趣的降低,对自己的评定等级又总是C等或D等;有的学生是从众心理,看见别人如何评价就如法炮制地给自己随便定了一个等第;还有的学生自以为“谦虚是美德”,从而给自己较低的评价。因而,此时的自我评价对教者和学者而言都没有实际的参考意义,随心所欲的自我评定并没有强调科学的自评方法和用真实的反馈指导来加以检测。
综上所述,在英语教学中要让小学生实施个体自我评价显然不是件容易的事。一个学生的自我评价能力越强,他的学习主动性也越强,学习成功的可能性也越高。而对于学习习惯、学习策略等尚且出于养成阶段的小学生而言,学生的自我评定绝对是离不开老师的悉心指导和培养的。因此教师更要排除万难,避开陷阱,在教学中有计划、有目的、有步骤地逐步培养学生的自我评价能力,最终帮助学生养成自我反思、自我教育、自我发展的良好习惯。
